Unpredictable events occur, and people enter and leave our lives with various demands and expectations. To create balance and maintain inner peace, we must be dedicated to preserving this sacred time.

“So, what exactly is Sabbath time? ”

It is a sacred period dedicated to connecting with oneself and with God. It involves intentional reflection. For example, you might find yourself burdened by pressing concerns. Use your Sabbath time to think about these issues, pray, meditate, refocus, and reframe your perspective. Reframing involves altering how you discuss and perceive your situations because the power of words is significant: what you speak, you manifest.

Reflection is also crucial because often, the issue isn’t external circumstances but how we respond to them. Ask yourself: Do I need more patience? Should I ignore this situation or the person causing it? Can I respond with a smile or kindness? What is within my control to manage a situation that seems beyond it? Sometimes, it's best to recognize that some battles are not ours to fight and should be left in God’s hands.

Another reason to maintain Sabbath time is to preserve our balance. For instance, I recall a work crisis that seemed endless. Despite the urgency I felt, the other party was uncooperative. Even in such intense moments, it's vital to keep our composure to prevent escalation and preserve life. During these times, stress can manifest physically, causing symptoms like indigestion or high blood pressure. To counteract this, we must intentionally reboot and restore balance.

Committing to Sabbath time allows God to restore us. If we don’t pause and create space in our lives, how can we expect God to work in us? Meditation and reflection are essential. While physical self-care like getting your hair or nails done is beneficial, maintaining spiritual wellness requires more. We must be quiet, create space for God to shape and care for us, and express our need and desire for His presence.

In summary, Sabbath time isn’t just a break from the routine; it's a profound commitment to our spiritual health and a time to nurture our relationship with God. Embrace this sacred time to reflect, connect, and allow God to minister to your spirit. Praise God, and you will see His work in, on, and around you. Peace be with you, and maintain this sacred Sabbath time for yourself and with God. Amen.
