So, I did it. Yes, finally! I put myself out there and guess what? The world did not stop spinning. There was no embarrassing footage of me going viral for appearing like a total ass. None of the crises I imagined would happen occurred. Actually, I had fun last night. Met a great new person. And in the end, I felt good. Empowered even. You are dying to know what I did last night, aren’t you?

“Well, I put myself out front in front of the camera and behind a microphone.”

I was a guest on an online radio show on Genesis.com called the Empowerment Show.

The show is also recorded and posted on YouTube, so there is a visual component. I am extremely camera shy. I am the one who goes on vacation and comes back with photos of strangers caught as I was capturing a shot of a building, scenery or whatever. Any pictures of me are usually in the possession of other people. It’s some dumb issue I have and never gave any thought about until I entered this online marketing space. Talk about being totally outside of my comfort zone!

I don’t understand the hows and whys of how I got to be camera-shy and may not ever know. What I do know is that I am now free. I am facing my fears and doing the things that make me uncomfortable.

While I was doing the interview, my daughter Markeetah was there photographing the entire time. Through her photos, I saw myself differently and it made me want to come out of the shadows.

In those photos, I saw a beauty, strength, and confidence that I don’t focus attention on or even acknowledge.

Seeing photos and claiming the power captured in them ignited a new desire to share this woman with the world.

I have enjoyed my time in the shadows, however, the comfort I had there is now presenting as stagnation. And, I don’t do stagnation… at willingly at least.

So, about last night...

It was my coming out into the sunshine. My debut so to speak.

There is new growth to be had and new dreams to manifest.

New adventures to partake in and new heights to pursue.

New praise to offer and prayers to render.

Ya’ll my walk is a little different too.

Just wait, there will be more photos and more appearances.

Look out world, ya’ girl is just getting started.
